6 speed

Default 6 speed

I'm new to the corvette world.What dose a 6 speed skip shift eliminator do.

It keeps your car from automatically shifting into 4th gear at slow speeds. The skip shift was the General's great idea on how to keep the cars within emissions. So with out a skip shift el. or the help of someone that you trust to bypass the transmission will force shift into 4th from 1st at slow speeds.[:@]This will drive you crazy after awile!

this exactly what my vette is doing,how to I fix this problem, can I do it myself

You install a skip-shift eliminator, sometimes refered to as an iCAGS. They cost about $30 and takes half a minute to install (unplug the CAGS fitting on the side of the trans, install the iCAGS, plug the CAGs fitting into the other end of the iCAGS) but that is once you get under the car - requires ramps or a lift to reach it.

THANKS If I took the car to a shop or a dealer what would it cost approx.

Unless it's a performance shop I don't know of what shop would do it. I am lucky to have shops around here. It really isn't that hard to do. Disconnect one plug, plug in the eliminator and zip tie up out of the way.
