Question 98 C5 PCM ECM- ADVICE identifying DIODE(w Label gone) on PCM circuit board to buy NEW

Hi to everyone. This is my first ever Vette forum post. I’d appreciate ADVICE on HOW to IDENTIFY the DIODE of my PCM / ECM found to have one of its legs corroded when I removed the circuit board from the housing. (See File attachment for Pics) My Vette is a 1998 Base Coupe w 5.7 Ltr. A friend who has repaired ECM’s feels strongly that replacing this diode should restore the PCM to functioning properly. The problem is when he cleaned the corrosion off the diode, the numbers labeled on the component were gone. Money is tight right now, so MY GOAL is to IDENTIFY the DIODE so that I can buy a NEW replacement and have my friend perform the repair -- solder it onto the board in place of the old one. ------- I’m thinking that the easiest, and PROBABLY IDEAL SCENARIO is if someone has the same PCM and can take a picture of their CLEARLY LABELED same diode on their circuit board à I’d be really grateful if they would then post it in a reply to this post, or Email it to me. OR ---- if someone has another viable solution, I’m definitely open to suggestions !! FYI – 2 GM dealers have told me that the correct PCM Part # is 19332289 which is ALSO found in a 98 Camaro and a 98 Firebird ---- additionally, 16238212 is stated to also be a valid GM part # per Car-Part.com, as well as Flagship One (a worldwide supplier of refurbished modules).

I appreciate any help or input ! Thanks a lot ! TJ

(Sorry this post ended up getting pretty long.)

Hey everyone, to AVOID CONFUSION, it’s probably best to respond to or follow this topic/ thread by jumping forward to the same question I posted on Sept 4th, that way everyone participating in this topic can see and follow the posts from other members and me all in one place instead of being split into separate threads.

A Moderator helped me initiate the new thread started on Sept 1st Called “98 ECM repair” (because it seemed that this one was lost, having not appeared for days).

Thanks in advance for anyone who joins the conversation !

Welcome back! If it was me I would go to Like a pick-a-part type salvage yard and look for those cars! Used ECM won`t Cost much, but it is used and you take your chances. Don`t think there are many lying around that someone will get you the diode number from.. Good Luck
