Take a look at the removal procedure in the my previous post. The codes listed are typical of a bad EBCM. To look at codes:

I looked at the removal procedure, but first I did the codes. When all the codes came up, I didn't get the 1214 code. How do you interpret the codes? The numbers come up, but I don't know what they mean. I did call Brandon in Mo., and what a nice gentelman. He was leaving for a week in one hr. so he told me to call him back on the 24 of Sept. When I reset all the codes that came up on my Vette, no lights were on the dash. Then I took it for a drive and no lights or warnings came on!! What happened. I am new to all of this, so Dave01, can you explain to me your theory? I will be driving it for about 3-4 hrs. tomorrow in the mountains, so that will be a good test to see if the lights come back on. Thank you for all your help!

DuWayne,
The lights will (most likely) return. When they do, you should write down all codes, including the history codes. If there is only one code, a C1242, then the problem is with corroded EBCM connector pins or ground lug connections (coming from the connector wires). Check/clean the grounds and unplug/plug the two connectors, multiple times to establish good ground connections. However, if you see codes C1287 and/or C1288 it's the swps (steering wheel positioning sensor). If this is the problem, take a look at this post; at the bottom of this page, there are many pictures and instructions for removing the SWPS.

The most common code for a bad component in the EBCM is C1214. If you see that, it's probably time to send your module to ABS Fixer.

Dave01, the lights came back on my 01 Vette. How do you interpret the codes once you get them? What are the history codes? Thank you so much for helping me with this problem. If you don't fix the lights on the dash, will this effect the cars performance or anything mechanical on the car? I am new to this, but I want to learn about this.

DuWayne,

This website lists the codes and what they mean:

http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm

History codes are codes that were set in the past. If the previous owner never reset the codes, yet fixed the problems they represent, the codes can be erased. However, if you erase all the codes and some or all return, that means that the problems still exist and need to be remedied.

What are you seeing for codes? Write them down and list them in your reply.

Dave01, here are the codes that came up.
60 IPC 1 code
58 SDM 4 codes
40 BCM 0 codes
28 TCS 6 codes
10 PCM 2 codes
AL RDCM 4 codes
BO RFA 0 codes
A6 SCM 0 codes
A1 RDO 4 codes
AO LDCM 4 codes
99 HVAO 4 codes
AO LDCM 4 codes

That's it. I have no clue what this means. Once you get the codes, I need to know what they mean, and how to reset them. Do you press the E/M button to clear them, and press the reset button?
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

DuWayne,
There should be a more specific code listed after every category code that you listed. For example, see:

http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_09...r/viewall.html

Write those secondary codes down and then look at the website I posted, previously to see what they mean.

Notice that one of the D.I.C. displays shows a code with "H" after it. That indicates it is a history code.
