Check Engine Light
My check engine light just came on a few days ago. I finally got around to pulling the codes and this is what came-up:
P0803 Skip Shift Solenoid Control Circuit
Has anybody ever ran into this code, and if so what did you have to do fix it? Thanks for the help.

RE: Check Engine Light
I believe the previous owner installed the skip shift eliminator, because I have always been able to shift from 1st to 2nd even when the light is on. I'll have to peak under the car and see if thats what it is. If I remember correctly its located closer to the drivers side, right?

I think it was installed from the passengers side, at least on Camaros. On my 'vette, I remember crawling under the back of the car with the rear jacked up to install it (first mod I did) -- its been 4 years but I thought it was on the passengers side again. Regardless the way to get at it is from the rear.

Wow. One of the fun things I used to like to do when my vette was stock was to see how low I could keep the revs. I once got all the way to work (about 15 miles on streets with speed limits up to 45) without ever going over 1300 RPM, shifting in every gear at 1250. It is sort of fun to use torque and not revs, although it does not give the nice exhaust sound you get with revs.

RE: Check Engine Light
I had the same exact problem a couple months ago on my 99 Convertible. The local shop that pulled the code said they couldn't handle it so I took it to the dealer and got it replaced. It wasn't too expensive and the thing shifted like brand new when it came back. Just like the oil sensor it seems to be a common problem with the C5, heard of others in the same boat.
