Cold start inquiry
Hello,
My C5 has an intermittent cold start that seems rather “unique”. The first crank does not “fire”, therefore needing a second crank of the ignition. Lacking one of three things-air, fuel, or spark, once she fires after the second crank she runs just fine. Anyone have a similar experience?
*Premium top tier gas fed
*Fresh air filter
*Low miles (40,000)
*no codes that point to ignition, fuel, or air
*Intermittent cold start requiring a second firing
Thanks for reading-any replies are welcomed..

I am wondering if maybe you don`t have enough fuel pressure on your first crank over. Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key on before you crank? and how long does the car sit between starts? Maybe try this where before you start, turn the key to on (no crank) for 5 to 10 sec.then turn off for about 10 sec. then turn the key on for another 10 sec. then crank and see what that does. I`m curious what that does.
Thomas 77, thanks for your reply. Yes I can hear the pump. The car resides in California in the summer months, and is currently not a daily driver. I will try your suggestion and see if that changes the cold start. You’re in Idaho-love Idaho. Spent 14 years in Sun Valley, and still visit from time to time…
Good to know how much it sits, I was guessing it sat awhile and when you turned the ing. on the fuel pump didn`t run long enough, the pump runs off of time on, not pressure. My 77 has the same issue with the carburator when it sets for more than two weeks, it cranks over several times till the carb gets enough gas, (mechanical fuel pump) ethnol doesn't help either. Hope it`s just a condition and not a problem, let me know I`m curious.Yes Idaho is my home, can`t say I like all the people here, but yes it`s been home for 60+ years,,
