My first vette!!
Hey everybody, it finally happened....I got my first vette. I still cant stop smiling when I walk outside. Just bought it 2 weeks ago, and actually I was going over to the dealership to look at a TA that I had seen but made the mistake of sitting in the vette first and I was sucked in to the layer of the corvette world. Its awesome...2000 Black Vette, Targa top, bose system sounds amazing, only 40k miles, the only thing is that it is not manual...which is what I wanted...but easily overlookd. Anyways here are some pics. Also, my first upgrade will be the exhaust, Headers, x-pipe, cat-back, the whole thing. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Congratulations and welcome to the club! Hey, where're the pics? You will definitely enjoy your C5. I hear the best performance mod for the buck is a set of gears. 3.42s are popular with the A4 (auto tranny) crowd. That happens to be the ratio that the 6-speeds came with from the factory, so there are plenty out there. Other than that, a good cold air intake system is a must. And don't forget to lower your car using the stock bolts. You can bring it down about an inch just by tirning a bolt at each corner.
I am hoping someone can answer a couple of questions and offer advice. I placed a deposit on a 2000 Magnetic Red Coupe yesterday with 50,000 miles on the odometer. The car is immaculate and I checked carfax and it had only one owner and has not been involved in any accidents. The dealer is selling it for $28,500 with 5.25% financing for 72 months. My question is, if I drive the car about 10,000 miles a year for the next 6 years it will have 110,000 miles on it. Will I be in for any possible large repair bills in the next 6 years and will the car be worth very much by then with that many miles on it? Also, would it be worth purchasing an extended warranty for the car, the one offered by the dealer is called "HiRoad" by Interstate in New York and the cost is $1,695. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Desertcogo,
I would stay away from an extended warranty that is not GM's or your credit union's. Too many of the other companies go out of business. I always like to be covered at least until my car is paid off. My extended warranty will expire this May or June and I may investigate my credit union's deal. Morethan likely, it'll be less expensive than that of the dealership. Remember, a water pump replacement runs $700 or so.
