You sound like a good father . . . go for the airbags, for sure. No matter how well your son drives, he'll still need protection from those whom surround him. I just got back in from a ride and I can tell you I saw more than one reckless driver. Thanks again for all you help. Rita

Hey Guys

On the subject of oil. I bought a used '04 with 6000 miles on it and the previous owner had two oil changes from a dealership that used synthetic oil. I since put 1500 miles on it in just about 8 months.
I would like to change the oil soon prior to winter storage, do I have to stay with synthetic?

Yes, stay with a good, pure synthetic, like Mobil 1

Although I drive the 4Runner to work, it also goes everywhere else, so it gets the extra mileage.
Besides, Papa Bear is adamant about changing the oil every 3K miles, so although it is a '97, it is in great shape. We also have a '95 - 4Runner and we won't be selling either one of them . . . just driving them off into the sunset. Of course, that is trailing my Vette. Ha, Ha!

Thanks again.

Lee,

Did you find out any info on the accusump? Is it pretty easy to install? Is there room? etc? Just curious...it sounds like a great idea...I've seen on some tv programs that dragsters and other expensive engines use them, to keep oil pressure in it for that initial startup. Just curious if you, or anyone had any info.

I was suprised reading my owners manual that 15K was the first oil change. I realize this is not a high rev 4, anyways oil changes are cheap, so it's 5 to 8K for me.
