Default steering issue

just bought a 2000 C5 yesterday, didnt really notice it then, but driving it last night... when i accelerate hard from a stand still it feels like the car wants to pull to the left..... this only happens from a stand still.. on a highway it drives straight and pulls fine.

Hi, and welcome to CF...About the only thing I can think of that would cause that would be the rear control arm bushings could be worn. Maybe someone with more experience will come along and know for sure.

Is it the front pulling or the rear end? Oh yeah...Welcome to the boards. You're gonna love your vette. Don't forget the wave. Cheers

Thank you for the welcome ! im trying to like the corvett and get used to it.

it feels as if the rear end is pulling to the left upon ard acceleration from a standstill. then it seems to correct itself and then pull to left again.... wondering what it can be.

Sounds like rear control arm bushings to me.

Personally, I would take it and have it put on a rack, and have all of thefront andrearcontrol armbushings, andthe differential supportbushingschecked.

If they are found to be worn and you have them replaced, you should also haveeverything re-aligned.

The car is going on eight years old, so it's highly possible the bushingsare probablyworn.

What they said about the bushings is most likely the problem. I think that I've read about a very similar problem on this forum with a vette that only had like 40k miles on it.

However, are you sure you're not just spinning the rear wheels? My tires will spin without making a sound and cause the rear end to drift to the right just a little bit. Even if I take off without spinning they will break loose after I hit the meat of the power. You could ask someone to drive alongside and watch. It's just a thought.

Another thing to check is the tires. A broken cord or belt, or unusual wear can cause odd behavior. Especially under high torque.

NOPE NOT THE TIRE CONDITION..... purchased from the lot the other day tires are in pretty good shape... burning out? hmmm.... i doubt it....cars stock.. no where near the power of my turbocharged Z28 which can light the tires up upon acceleration but doesnt pull. The cars rear end seems as if it wants to go anywhere but straight liek it needs some kind of rear end alignment when torque / power is applied. ... but i will look into that suggestion of having someone look into it
