I know some guys are using blue washer fluid, but I would like to stick to pure methanol here. I have heard you can get it at some hardware stores, or possible Lowes or Home Depot, but after going to a few local hardware stores, and a Lowes, I had no luck. Someone else suggested a tractor supply store, but there aren't any near me in NJ.

Does anyone know where I can buy methanol? I am not opposed to buying it online if someone knows where to look.

 

BTW, also looking to get it somewhere that is open year round if possible.

You can usually get it at any "hardcore" speed shop. I buy mine at Carolina Auto Masters in Durham. Its costly, it damages paint if spilled and not cleaned up immediately, and its not the safest stuff in the world (but not really more dangerous than gasoline. But I doubt you can get it delivered through the mail. I'd start calling speed shops in the area or ask at the dragstrip.

By the way, anyone that knows the answer to this question? In a pinch, what would happen if I substituted Ethonal (you can buy it by the quart in the Drug Store)? I suppose I could sit down with a chemistry book and figure out the various changes in vaporization pressure and temp, caloric content, etc., but maybe someone knows.

 

I asked my buddy that has a scooby and a meth kit on it, he said any small lawn mower shop uslay carries it...why i have no idea just passing on the info [:'(]
