"P0016" Crank Shaft Position - CamShaft Position Correlation - Bank 1
the camshaft position sensor on ls1,s are at the top of block at the rear, the reluctor wheel is on the camshaft.the sensor help s emc find whether a cylinder is firing or on exhaust stroke.CMP sensors have been on gm cars since the 90,s.there are no plans for its use for var. cam timing.its used so not all the data is coming from one sensor
There areno sensors on my C5R and LS6 (Camaro), I know that since I built both on them. I talked to a buddy at GM today about the variable valve timing which he said is planned and will come later on, maybe with the long rumored 3-valve heads. For now they are focused mostly on the cylinder deactivation for more fuel economy.
