TRACTION PROBLEMS
I had a SC'd C5R (427 cubic inch) with 704 RWHP in my '02 and found the following works well.
First, get a mini-tub kit from Lingenfelter, about $700. You can install it yourself if you are skilled or have any competent hot rod body shop do it. That will permit you to use 12 inch wide wheels. Buy a good set. I got Fikse 5Ss, about $1300 each, 12 inch wide on the rear and matching 9.5 inch wide on the front for about $800 each. But many people prefer HRW or BBS: they all cost about the same wheels get expensive when you want width and strength. Then, you can run Michelin 345 section Pilots if you want anoticeably but not overhwelming increase in traction, and tread so you have some ability to go, slowly, in the rain), or 345 section drag radials, which after you play with tire pressures and launch technique will easily handle up to about 550 RWHP with no problems. However, you will not be able to drive more than 15 mph on even a wet road (after a rain). I ran the drag radials all the time. They cost about $350 each and last about 4000-5000 miles on the street, less if you burn rubber just to show off.
