Default 1991 radio problem

Need some help here! Got a 1991 corvette convertible that has a radio issue. Everything looks normal, but once I turn the radio on the radio acts like "close encounters of the 3rd kind". The station number flickers and the volume comes on loud and goes off and on again. You can not change any stations and the CD also will not work. The cd does load and unload.

It actually started happening after a had to jump start via cable. Although I did connect everything properly,etc..

Any ideas?

Default RE: 1991 radio problem

My radio 92 vette just started acting up also. I keep it on a battery tender for the winter and just started using it for the first time in a couple of years. The radio whines and squeals from time to time really bad. It started ( I think ) with a low level condition first day i.e. it sounded like the bass was missing. I put a CD in and it seemed to fix it until the squealing started. It is very annoying and I was wondering if it's a Radio issue or a wiring issue. Thanks for any help!
