Automatic anti theft? VATS 1989
I have a question about the automatic anti theft.
I have a habit of opening the door with the engine still running, and then pushing the lock button to lock the door getting ready to get out.
Only then do I turn off the engine and hop out and push the door closed.
If the action of locking the door is what's setting the alarm on the car, am I interfering with this operation by having the key still 'ON' when I'm setting the alarm by locking the door?
Did that make any sense?
Thanks for any help.

I have not tried this, but the system should not arm if the key is on when you hit the door lock.
Try it with the window open & let us know if the alarm goes off when you open it from the inside handle.
BTW, VATS (vehicle anti theft system) and the content theft alarm are two different systems.
