CONVERTOR LOCKUP PROBLEM ON 81
I just bought an 81 vette that been stored for 15 years. Been working on a lot of different things but the convertor
lockup got me stumped. The repair manual says to pull the plug of the trans and check for voltage, but cannot get
hand past the exhaust pipe. Is there another check point to check the convertor power? Jay[:@]

RE: CONVERTOR LOCKUP PROBLEM ON 81
Well, there should be another end of the wire somewhere (I mean the voltage has to get to the trans somehow so there has to be a wire). But you'll need a good wiring diagram and spend some time with it - should be able to figure it out. Testing at the other end won't tell you if the voltage is reaching the trans (the wire, the plug, could be broken) but it is a start.
Frankly though, I imagine you know chances are fairly good it is not electrical. Apparently it runs somewhat (you can at least drive it enough to note the converter does not lockup) that's quite something for a car left for 15 years.
