Hatch Window

Default Hatch Window

New 2007 coupe, Looking through rear view mirror objects are distorted.Seems like hatch glass is not optically clear. Any input or similar experience? chris

Got an LED flashlight? Shine it through the glass at night onto some paper. See how much spectrum breakup (rainbow effect)you get. And how uniform it is on the paper.

What will shining the light through tell me . I can not tell what kind of vehicle is behind me, the distortion is so bad.

That'll show the general manager at the dealership how bad the distortion is.

Hi chopperman and welcome to the forum, the glass is uv or polorized or some thing like that, it's the way it's made.
As long as the objects in the outside mirror says "The objects are getting smaller because they are loosing" you'll be Okay. PG

The window has a lot of curves and you are looking through it on quite an angle so a certain level of distortion comes with that.
I do have some exposure to GM repair records, and I have not heard of any rear glass replaced for distortion.
If it bothers you a lot, I offer to trade my old 92 for your 2007!

did you have tint put on it??? it sound like a bad time job if i ever hear of one!!!!! no scimping on the tint!!!

I did not have the windows tinted.
