poor performance

Default poor performance
I just bought a 1988 coupe , auto. The problem is I can't get it to go over 109 m.p.h. on the "track" of course. Is there a top speed limiter from the factory on these models?

I'm pretty sure there is a top speed governor, but I don't think it would be that low.
