what is the max width a seat could be in a 86? I want to put in 2 racing seats

My seats in my 86 are 19.5 inches wide at the top of the seat side bolsters , at the base rails there is only 19 in., I have the sport seats .They just fit in the hole, I have them out right now to get them re upholstered.
