Greetings, getting into tearing the heads down on my 89,discovered a leak at the rear of the right cylinder head at the block. The dip stick tube needs to be removed, once the header bolt is removed does the tube just pull out? I can't seem to find another bolt or bracket, so do I just apply more force to remove it?

Also planning on using FEL PRO gaskets to seal it back up, good choice?

I don't have experience on the 89 engine but on the older models the dipstick tube is just press fit, twist and pull. FEL-PRO is my 1st choice in gaskets.

The dipstick tube is press fitted into the block with no attaching hardware. They are sometimes a real bear to get out, especially with the block still in the car. I would order another tube from Ecklers or GM and hve it just in case. You can try a pair of vise grips to try and work it out. Good Luck [8D]
