Default 1965 Air Filter Adapter

Good afternoon,
I just purchased a 65 convertible with a 327 cu in 300hp. It presently has a Holly carburetor with a 5 1/8" opening. I would like to keep the engine stock looking as much as possible by using the orginial 2 horn air filter (that I have) instead of the chrome Holly filter that is presently on the motor. The original corvette air filter will only accomadated a carburetor that has a 4" opening. Is anyone aware of an adapter that will go from 5 1/8" (carb. inlet) to the 4" filter housing?
Thank you for any help or suggestions.

PLEASE NOTE: I have found adapters that will go from 4" to 5 1/8" but because the way they are constructed they can't be turned upside down.

Welcome to the forum. I can't think of anything short of modifying the original base by cutting it out to fit over the larger size but due to the drop-down, that's probably not possible either.

Thank you 73shark for your forum welcome and your valued input. Due to my present schedule I haven't had a chance to take a good look at what it will take to make this modification (with drop down) and I certenly not want to trash a perfectly good 65 air filter if it was not going to work. If any one else has a suggestion on how this modification can be made, I'm open for suggestions.

Thank you

Happy Holidays Everyone,

It has been some time since I posted a "HELP" request regarding modifing a double snorkel 65 air filter to fit a Holly 3520 (with elect. choke). As such, I was circling back to see if anyone has accomplished this modification or knows of anyone that has.

Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry I do not know anyone who has made this modification. However I would look into finding one of the older Carter afb's,

Thank you 74Harley for your input. I presently have a Performance Manifold on the car with a Holly Carburetor. To go to a Carter AFB, etc. will require me to obtain a manifold and carburetor at considerable expense. As such I was hoping someone might of already tackled (invented the wheel) on this modification and could share it.

Thank you again 74Harley
