Default Electronic ignition to replace points

I have a C2 small block with points in the distributor. I would like to replace the point ignition with an electronically triggered one, but have seen some negative customer feedback on Jegs and Summit about reliability problems (e.g., Pertonix III).

Does anyone have good experience with one and have a recommendation for a reliable brand?

Welcome to the forum. I would check out MSD systems.

The reason folks continue to use Petronix is that it is hidden within the distributor and doesn't take an external box. So, think of it as preserving the original look of the engine compartment (except in some cases a small 12V wire to the distributor). That said, Petronix units do fail from time to time and when they do, it is a hard failure. You may go years without a failure or have one one or two years in. My advice is that if you want to go the Petronix route, keep a set of points and capacitor as a backup, or if you don't care about the money, have a second Petronix in your glovebox as a spare.
