1980 auto shifter indicator pointer - install
I have this replacement indicator for an automatic console. Original broken.
Corvette manual with photos on installation (ref. P. 14008246 dial indicator)
has anyone had to install a new indicator? Was it worth aggravation?
Side carpet to access this indicator> how hard? Was it worth or should i just
shift without the indicator?

It might seem intimidating but it's really not that bad. Pull the side panels from the console c, I think there are 6 screws that hold the top of the console in place, 2 at the top 2 in the middle and 2 at the bottom. Remove the shifter **** you should be able to lift the console up between the seats far enough to get under the shift indicator to remove 2 or 3 screws to drop the shift indicator out to replace it. Be careful with it, it's plastic. My 77 broke and I super glued it, that a few years back, still working. I hate not having a shift indicator.
