Default power steering filler

I know this question shows how unmechanical I am but I can't find the power steering filler in my 73 small block. Where in the name of heaven is it? It would seem it would be right up front or somewhere near the oil filler.

Hi Marty73, power steering reservoir is part of the power steering pump. You'll find the pump on the driver's side, front of engine, very low under the alternator. It will have a short belt driving it. The reservoir cap is about two inches in diameter, black, twist 1/4 - 1/2 turn counter-clockwise to remove. Don't over-fill, it won't take much, you can use automatic trans fluid if you don't have power steering fluid.

It's normally dark and greasy in that area and difficult to see and also hard to fill, use a small funnel with hose attached. Glad to help.

Don't forget, check to line on the stick attached to the cap, and check when fluid is hot, no?

Best hot but I think most of them had a hot line and a cold line to check to on the dipstick.
