Default PROBLEM: Broken Hood Release Cable...

Went to open my hood afew minutes ago and ended up with the "hood release handle" inmy hand due tothe cable snapping as it was frayed just past the handle.

Question #1:Is the cable available by itself or do you have to buy the cable and casing all in one package.
Question #2: Is there a way to open the hood without cutting the cable casing and pulling the cable itself?
Thanks.

DeeVee and '74'vetteowner,
Thanks so much for the info. When my wife gets back, I'll give it a try. I was trying to keep from messing up the cable casing and you guys came through, again. I really appreciate the help.
