Default Weather Stripping Kits

Well this morning on my way to work, there was something I needed to ask you guys and was going to do it later tonight when I had time here at the office. Can't remember what the heck it was so , I didn't want the moment here to go to waste! UPDATE----- I REMEMBER!!

Weather stripping kits that sell for $3-400. Is their anything special about this other than it may be deisigned just for the car. Would generic brands work with obvious skill to go along with it?

Hi cyclic hardover, I got my replacement rubber from www.riksvet.com it worked fine for a while, then the left window would bind about 1 inch from the top. Then the "B" pillar window seal deteriorated and I tried www.DocRebuild.com for that, it does not fit as tight as I would like. Now www.corvetterubber.com
claims theres is the best. pot luck, PG

It's hard enough to get an "exact" replacement to fit, there is no way I would put "generic" on.
Docrebuild offered a few more parts than the other catalogs, they also offered the rivet that secures the B pillar WSothers don't.
You might want to order the door glass window seals and the water diverter, Hope that helps, PG

Mine definitely looks original as cracked and beat up as it is. Whislting down the road. Shoot, lining it with gum would be better. Just wondering if their were decent alternatives to shelling out the big bucks

Hi CH, There are some pins it the t-topbut that andthe rest goes on with
3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive # 051135-08001

To get the old WS off you'll need
3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner #051135-08984. That's what I used. Other members will let you no what they used.

Try starting on the t-tops I remember that went pretty easy.
Then try one door at a time, you might have to compare something on the other side. After the cleaning, test fit around the door without any adhesive, if you just go from the front of the door, down the buttom and up you may stretch it too much.
As far as the A pillar docrebuild had more parts so he got the order.
The B pillar was easy, except that 1 rivet holds it on the bottom but your car may not need it.
Cover your interior.
And last: you'll have to adjust the side windows.
Hope that helps, PG
