Default 700R4 Shifting Problems.

OK, I have an '85 with the original 700R4 powered by a '92 LT1. The trans was upgraded / serviced about 50k ago when the motor was put in, not sure what was done, but cost about $800. I just started having a strange transmission problem. From a standing start (normal driving) it runs up to 25mph in first gear then shifts to 2nd, 3rd and OD normally. My RPM's while cruising are fine, 70mph/1800rpm and 80mph/2000rpm, my water temp stays around 188 to 191deg. The trans fluid is a nice bright red with nothing floating in it. If I jump on it from a standing start, the tires break loose and the trans shifts fine into 2nd with no slipping.

Ive been told to check the TV cable and reset the adjustment. Any advice or things to check would be great. THANKS in advance.

Update....... Well, today I went out to see about adjusting the TV cable. I don't know why, but before doing the cable, I pulled out the trans dipstick. Now I just checked it less than 50 miles ago and it was a bright clear red. Today it was black.... So now I am looking at a much bigger repair and will start on Monday calling local shops. I was able to talk to one today, they are looking at rebuilding my trans for $1500, but they only do stock rebuilds. I would like to step it up a little so I don't have to worry about this again. I'll keep everyone informed with what I find out.
