anti theft problem??
hi, i am new to the forum.
about 2 months ago i bought a 1990 vette. ( my 3rd one- luv them !!)
i have a problem with this one, that i have never had before.
it started when we were at an elevation of 11,000 feet ( trail ridge road in rocky mountain national park, co ), and it started snowing on us, and my horn started beeping like the alarm was going off, and my console started flickering, and this went on until we got to a lower elevation and non-snowing. it was fine for approx. 1/2 hour, then it started doing it again. now, it does it 1/2 of the time i drive it, and the console flickers a few times, and then goes completely blank- so none of the gauges can be read. recently, i tried for 2 hours to get the anti-theft device to dis-engage so i could start the car and head home from work ( it was cold and windy that night ) . i put my key in the drivers door, to turn off the alarm, and once inside of the car- the key in the ignition, and the car would not start. we think the anti-theft may be shorting out, or need to be replaced. i can't be somewhere and not have my car start again- so we have it parked until we know what is going on, and how to fix it. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
