Angry Door Lock Actuator Alternate Part

Hello all, I am looking for a alternate/substitute door lock actuator for my 1994 C4. The OE Part number is 22137716, which is discontinued (of course, what isn't) but looking around, the ACDelco 15841665 seems like it will fit. I am wondering if there is anyway to verify, or if anyone has tried subbing in this part? I also wanted to find out if there is a way to talk to GM and see if they have some sort of recommendation. What say you all??

Welcome to the forums. Have you checked the power to the actuator? Test the actuator with a different power source to make sure it's bad? You can call a Chevy dealership and talk to the parts guy and see if he has a cross reference for that part. There are actuators that are a close fit, you can adapt. I installed a door lock actuator on my 77 (had manual locks only) that came out of a 92 blazer adapted it and works fine, there are ways.

Corvette salvage, or ebay might be a good place to look.

Well first, I’m not having troubles with the one installed. I am Restoring this 1994 from the frame up. Thus, I’d would like to install a new actuator that is new rather than reinstall what came out. Since I am replacing the door, this is the time to replace it rather than have it fail after I reinstalled the whole assembly. So while I have it disassembled and the parts laid out, I’d rather just replace it with a new lock actuator.

Thomas 77. Could you send me the link to the actuator at Amazon? Thanks

I googled the DLA186 standard # and if you go to the amazon site it pops up as a door lock actuator. I'm not sure if that looks like the one you are looking for, pictures are deceiving sometimes. Looks as most manufacturers stopped making that part.

I have seen those. I guess I will need to use the trial and error method as to whether they are interchangeable. I just wanted to verify that an updated part (like an actuator for a 1998 gm) will work. I mean there are NOS parts that look the same but are different part numbers. I’m sure it will work electronically unless there is an issue with VATS. Although, the 1992 and 1993 have Vats and use the c3 actuator. I wonder if I can retrofit? Something worth exploring.
