Fuel level sensor problem solved!
Hi all,
I solved my fuel level sensor problem this past week end! To refresh you to the problem, my fuel gauge showed "Reserved" even though the tank was full. The shop manual test indicated that the problem was in the CCM. This was NOT the case. I pulled the fuel pump/sensor out of the tank. The fuel sender /sensor is a perminate part of the fuel pump assy. I inspected the sender assy. and found that it was a plastic sensor pack attached to a metal backing plate which in turn is spot welded to one of the fuel pick-up tubes. The plastic sensor is attached to the metal backing plate with 2 plastic molded buttons. One button was broken away keeping the resistor arm from the float from contacting the varible resistor assy. I pulled the sender back in place with 2 small pieces of wire and sensor works great! The only alternitive is to replace the whole assy. for over $300. Hope this helps those with the same problem in the future.
