Default What in the hell did I do?

1995 6spd Corvette
New clutch installed about 800mi or 4 months ago

I pulled into my driveway after a pretty calm cruise and heard some noise that I wasnt familiar with, like other than the loud noise from the clutch/trans that you get used to in a C4. I looked underneath and there is a 4" diameter hole in the bottom of the clutch housing. Its perfectly round, and looks like someone would have used a hole saw to get it so precise, but I can confirm that nobody did that. WTF did I do here?

Looks like the inspection cover is missing.

I wasnt aware that there was an inspection hole there... Do you know if this cap is sold seperately and where I might find one?

I'd start checking with the many aftermarket Corvette parts suppliers. If they can't supply one, then check with Contemporary Corvettes. It's a Corvette salvage yard in Pennsylvania and they might be able to help you out.

I not sure if that hole is stock, looks a little oversized to me. It has been awhile since I have seen the bottom of a c-4. You might need to build a cover if one can't be found.

Made one tonight with some steel mesh and high temp aluminum tape.

That should work, something to keep the road debris out. From your picture it looks as if the hole has been enlarged.

It is quite the hole, but Im confident that the patch work will hold up for a long time.
