When operating my telescopic button all I hear is the motor running and nothing else happens forward or backwards its like the drive gear isn't connecting just wondering if body has experienced this if so how did you fix it thanks for any info

I don't know if they use some type of rack and pinion gear setup or a screw drive but it sounds like either way the motor is not connected. Either a set screw or a broken gear could be the problem. If it's a plastic gear then it's quite likely that several teeth have gone South on it.

 

Thanks 73 shark do you know if the steering column comes apart to check I can't find any info or diagrams on this

 

My 73 steering column can be accessed by pulling the steering wheel and working your way down into the Tilt/Telescopic mechanism. Not sure about how the C5 is put together though.
