Well, I picked up my vette today and except for a grease smudge on the hood and2 spots on the carpet inside (which, thank goodness, I was able to clean) my vette seems to be okay. They had it over the weekend and promised to keep it inside, whichthey did. Theyinstalled a new oil pan and said the first one had a defect - YEAH RIGHT! Oh, well, I wasn't going to bandy words with them, so I just said, "Thank you" and "Goodbye." All the while thinking, get me the heck out of here.

Thanks, everyone, for listening and sharing what you have experienced.

Take care, stay safe.
Rita

Using a Corvette shop instead of the dealership sounds like real good advice and I think that is what I will do in the future. As for this time, they did install a new pan and wrote it up as a warranty replacement.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Take care, stay safe,
Rita

I don't even take my car to the dealership, we happen to have 2 Vette only shops in my area (well actually they are about a hour away) that I prefer to do the work on my car. Both shops exclusively work on Vettes and have been around for 30+ years.

Being new to the wide world of Corvette ownership, one of my next questions was going to be where to take it if I need a serious look at something. I have Corvettes of Houston right here, as well as one other Corvette only shop. I have spoken with a friend at a chevrolet dealership who says she can get me parts at cost, and work at a discount. I started off asking about a few little things I would like to replace or update, and was shocked at the price I was quoted. I walked into Corvettes of Houston with the same questions and came away with a promise of half the price quoted by my contact with the dealership. Plus the guys at Corvettes of Houston showed a genuine interest in my car, as well as the vision I have for my car. The guy offered sugestions for do it your self, and ways to cut costs without giving up quality or performance. My vote is a Corvette only shop even if I had to drive to Corvette Country in Austin. Heck even if I hade to take mt vette on a car hauler to Austin.

Sorry if thats a little more than two cents from a Newbee
Roger
