Newbee help - just bought a 96 C4 w/97k mi - what should I expect re: service issues?
I just bought a 1996 C4 w/97,000 miles. What should I expect as far as servicing i'll need to do right away (what typically breaks on these at this mileage?). i don't know what's been done throughout the history of the car. Anything you can inform me of will be greatly appreciated.
Was 1996 a good year for Corvette? The car is very clean.
Need some expertise from you experienced 'vette owners.
Thank you - John

First of all the 96 was a great year for the C4. There isnt anything to worry about if you keep up your maintance. It sounds to simple because it is. If you just got the car, I would take it in for an engine flush and do your general servicing. Be sure to use Synthetic oil. Another thing I would do is put in a K/N filter. It will help the car breathe better. The only problem I had thus far was my headlight motor actuator. Dealerships will charge you an arm and a leg to workon it (whether replacing it or put bushings). If you need to ever get an actuator, get it from O'Reilly parts F.Y.I. It costs about $300. The dealership wants to charge you twice that. Well hope this helps. Enjoy the car and see you on the road!
Thanks Chad - I just took her in for smog. They found the battery was bad, and replaced a belt. Oil looks new so I think I'll leave it for a while.
She does need new rear tires. What do you run for tires? Are runflats necessary?
