After getting my oil changed this weekend, when I hold the reset down to reset the "oil life remain" all I get is something like "Oil Life Remain _ _ _% " And it doesn't reset the change oil soon light. Any suggestions?

 

Is your ignition key in the "On" position?

 

Hi Dave, Yes, the car is in the on position when I reset it. Is it supposed to be in a different position? Thanks.

The exact sequence is:

1. Turn the ignition to ON with the engine off.
2. Press the TRIP button so the OIL LIFE percentage is displayed.
Press RESET and hold for 2 seconds. OIL LIFE REMAIN 100% will appear.

Go ahead and try this again; it should work.

Mine is a 1999 and after I change the oil I turn the key to the on position with the doors closed and hit the gas peddle three times, and it resets the oil back to 100%....

 

Okay, it looks like things have changed after 99 or 2000. So our question is: What year is your C5, Kruser?

My C5 is a '98. I was able to reset oil life percentage using the steps you outlined above. I suppose the engine isn't supposed to be running when resetting. Thanks for you help.
