my c5 has a banging noise at low rpm in higher gears. it is coming from the firewall, behind the engine. it sounds like broken engine mounts, but they have been checked and are fine. is there a bellhousing mount that could be broken? this is my retirement gift too myself and is my first corvette. i am waiting for my manuals i have ordered. but im not comfortable driving it till i get this resolved. thanks for any info.

 

check exhaust for clearance

I believe there is also a mount on the tail shaft of the transmission that you could check when you're checking the exhaust clearance.
