CAGS eliminator

CAGS eliminator
I FINALLY installed my skip shift eliminator. I've been carrying it around in my glove box since I took the car out of storage this spring. It was so easy to install. By far the hardest part was getting under the car. I ended up taking it over to my brother-in-laws place. He has a pit in his work shop. It took longer to remove and replace the pit boards than it did to plug the eliminator in.
I'm sooo glad that that stupid thing will never screw me over again.

Alright, I'm revealing my ignorance here,......what is a CAGS, let alone a CAGS eliminator?

It's a mechanism that locks out second and third gear under certain conditions. It makes you shift from first to fourth under light acceleration. It's supposed to help with fuel economy(which in reality it does not). It's a pain in the a$$. The eliminator disconnects the lockout solenoid on the transmission and replaces it with a resistor so that the computer doesn't flag a failure.

RE: CAGS eliminator
I think it is when less than 1800 rpm is when it forces you to go to 4th....I'm sure someone here knows for sure......but there is definitely an rpm it looks for in making that decision. I have the eliminator on mine too....took a few times of being forced to shift to 4th when I didn't want to, for me to install that!
