Anyone know why Zip and others sell one motor mount for small and big blocks but the parts houses list a taller version for the big block that won't fit the width of the frame mount? The ears are too narrow to fit over the frame. Were the frame mounts the same width for the big and small blocks? I've got a 1968 big block and the mounts the parts houses have don't fit at all. Thanks in advance.

 

My understanding is that the SB and BB mounts are the same. Remember, parts house guys are not always "hands on" mechs. The taller, narrower mounts "could" be for a 4X4 to achieve clearance. Measure the frame mount and give them the figures. Some places will be able to match by dimensions. Hope this helps.
