Default Update on Accusump

Apparently, the Accusump works very well - you get instantaneous 50 lbs of oil pressure when you start the car, reducing bearing wear from cold starts to next to nothing.

But it is rather difficult to installl and my shop recommended it was not worth the trouble for my car, because the high rates of bearing wear from cold starts will never be an issue for me. They said that it only really helps for stock engines that are started and stopped five to ten times a day -- som many starts wear the bearings early on an engine that otherwise would go 200000 miles. Mine is started maybe six times a week, and it is heavily modified to the point the rest of the engine will probably go only 90,000 - 100,000 miles, so it will not reduce the time-to-rebuild in any way.

They also said it would be doubly difficult with my car because there is so much under the hood and the Accusump takes up room - about as much as a small nitrous tank: in addition to standard stuff, I have under the hood an oil catch can and plumbing, all the intercooler plumbing, the SCR and its brackets and belts of course (parts are here, its going back on in two weeks), and now alcohol injection (to be installed when the SCr is put back on).

Actually, I have, nine to be exact, just not about cars . . . I've thought about doing one on cars when I retire.

People tell me my plot development is a bit weak and the characters are flat and dimensionless, but they buy them anyway, book royalties pay for the cars I own:
