Seperated door skin
I went to opene the passenger door of my 2000 C5 garage queen and was horrified to see that at the rear edge of the door the exterior skin has seperated from the inner part of the door. About the uppermost 10-12 inches have split away.
Has this happened to anyone else? What kind of adhesive or epoxy do I use to glue them back together??

Eklers carries the same type of bonding adhesive(putty) that GM uses to put the cars together. seems to be a pretty Stout adhesive putty must have been a glitch or air bubble in the applicating apparatus that just slipped by QC. It normally takes a pretty good impact to jar that stuff loose. it's normally the glass that come apart first.
I couldnt find that putty at Ecklers. Do you happen to know the SKU# or exact name of it. What I did find at a different site is a SMC bonding stuff http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/sem39337.html. Would that be the same as Ecklers?
Thanks much for the lead

Here they are. The SMC stuff seems as though it would work but personaly I would have to test it fist. The discription sounds like the right stuff it would do the job, just don't have any experiance with it. only Pecaution iI can give is don't use epoxy as epoxy will not bond to poly-ester or vinyl-ester body panels.Cheers

Maybe I still am not looking in the right location at Ecklers but everyone of those bonding agents seem to be for 52-72 vettes. I did just run across this tidbit: http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:m8sd3WWhJHsJ

Looks like your on the right trac. I would use the Ashland chemicals stuff as I'm not familiar with the other companies. There is another matterial that I believe will work for this it is called "Plexes". Good luck with it, it shouldn't be too difficult of a job.
most auto body supply shops carry 3M Panel bonding adhesive, which bonds metal, fiberglass, and SMC they also carry adhesive .specific for SMC. Lord Fusor is another company (actually the first to make the stuff) as well as Crest and probably several others.either is more than adequate. only drawback is you need the specific applicator gun and a couple clamps. I personally prefer 3M.
