Default Not sure what it is worth?

I am thinking of buying my first one but not sure if it is a good deal or not? 68 convertible with hardtop, matching numbers, 26000 miles. Sounds good so far, but it has a 327 and a 3 speed manual.
I am not too crazy about the 3 speed, is the fact that the 3 speed is unusual make it collectible? Is it rare because it is weird or because not many are left? Are not many left because it was not a good idea and everyone put in 4 speeds?
Any advice whether to buy it or not would be appreciated. $58000.00 Cdn

Hi Ronny, First of all Welcome to the Corvette Forum. Did you put one to many zeros in that price? I don't know the exchange rate from CDN to USD but if it's anywhere close to 58 thousand US dollars I think it's way over priced. I'm certainly not an expert but I'm sure one will chime in with what you should pay for a 68.

no that is correct call it $50,000 USD gets it close to $58,000 CDN

I am more concerned with the 3 speed manual, I am wanting it as an investment more than a driver and am wondering if this is a benefit or a hinderance to have this set up

Maybe someone else can comment on the 3 speed. Truthfully I didn't even know that they put a 3 speed in a 68. Have you looked on ebay? There is a 68 with a 427 in it for $45,000 buy it now. I think you would be money ahead to buy a 427 car especially if you want an investment. #300079102584 is a top notch 68 for $31,500. I'm talking out of school here, because I'm new to Corvettes, but I've looked at prices for a long time. Lets hear from someone else. How about it Lee or C3Starship.

I don't know about the 3-speed transmission, although I recall a neighbor had a C2 with the base 327 and a 3 speed. If it truly does have matching numbers, and is in really good shape (and it should be with only 26000 miles) with original paint and upholstry and an original factory hardtop, then$50,000 is about market price due to the condition and low miles.
