Default Brake Lights

When the car is off and I step on the brake pedal the brake lights come on and go off when I take my foot off the pedal.
When the car is running and I step on the pedal the brake lights come on but don't go off when I take my foot oof the pedal.
This is when I need to lift the pedal up with the top of my foot to turn off the lights.
About 1/16" of play at top of pedal.
I tried adjusting the switch but it didn't help.

I'd try taking the switch out of the bracket and seeing how it reacts when doing it manually.

I removed the switch and it is working fine.
This time I adjusted it with the car running and now the lights are working almost ok.
Seems like the pedal is hanging up a little on then return causing the lights to saty on.
Is there a place under the dash to lube the pedal?

Maybe try squirting some lube at the pivot point. While WD40 will work for a while, an oil based lube will last longer. Also where the rod attaches to the arm.
