Default high horsepower from a X-fire?

just wondering if any of you guys know of anyone whos running a fairly decent crossfire vette (84)? Im only 15 and looking for a C4 L98, but if i find a cheap xfire in good condition i might purchase it. im on a budget and want the car to eventually run high 11's-low 12's on race gas with about 75 shot nitrous... is this achievable with the X-fire? One more question..is the block aluminium on the 84's and are any internals on it forged? Thanks for the help,

Nick

the block is castiron, and a 4 bolt main, and should have pink rods.and a steel crank,good to 450 hp easy ,if you plan on using race gas u better have some compression,at least 11to1 -and up,i would just carb it and bottle the motor with a nos super power shot.and some after market heads and a custom cam,

What exactly are "pink" rods? are they somehow reinforced or are they just beefier? I heard that they were rods from the 350 put in trucks. Im planning to push the car to about 450 horses. I also want to keep the Xfire for gas mileage (still in high school). Plans are;

cam, exhaust, heads, upgraded TB, 75 shot of spray( is this ok for cast pistons? i know im supposed to retard timing 3 degrees), 4.10 gearing, 3500 stall converter, B&M stg 3 shift kit,
intake manifold. is this enough to get me to that 400 hp mark? What do you think i will run 1/4 with this combo. srry for all the questions,

Cheers,

Nick

Whats up Nick

The words Cross Fire and High horsepower shouldnt be used in the
same sentence, why? IT WONT HAPPEN. You can however buy
my 85 Vette which is black with a little mods and run some nice #s

Ther's no reason to be scared of the crossfire cars. There are some fast 84's running TBI. There are some 12 second cars and a number of 13 second cars out there. If you want to use the TBI you can port the stock intake, or go with the x-ram intake. If you wanna learn more about the system check out www.x-ram.com. There are some running ported stock intakes with good results so don't dismiss this. Just recently I attended a track day and beat all the C4's with my daily driven Z51 Auto crossfire car. i really enjoy mine. The TPI cars are great and definately quicker out of the box, unless saddled with the 2.59 rear as so many are. The crossfire cars have a 3.07 excepting 400 or so that got 3.31's.

Good luck in your search and whatever Vette you'll get you'll have fun!
