Default Loss of power issue

I have an '84 that I purchased 2 weeks ago. The car had been sitting for 2 years with a half tank of gas I. It. I drove the car from Syracuse NY to Pa. I got about 25 miles into the trip home and the car struggled to get over 45mph. Has anyone ever had problems like this? I wasn't sure if it was the old gas in it so I topped it of with super and still had the same results all the way home. Any ideas for me guys?

I'd drain all of the gas, put in two or three bottles of Techron and a half tank of fresh regular, non-alcohol gas (if available). I assume there's no check engine light. Another possible cause of reduced power is clogged cats.

Did it run OK for the first 25 miles?

It ran good for the first 25 miles then we came to some hills and the power loss started. Couldn't get over 45mph. Yesterday we checked the gas in the tank and it was as clean as fresh gas. I agree with possible clogged injectors. I seen where others had the same issues and it was problems with the ECM. What is your opinion on that? No check engine light on and we disconnected the cat and there was no change

Another thing to check would be the fuel pressure with both the engine running and with the engine off but the key on. Also check the fuel filter and if there's a sock on the tank end of it, check it out also.

I've been I've been told that while old gas may look good, it has lost its volatility and goes bad.

If you physically disconnected the Catalytic converter and it still ran the same with open pipes, then first place i would look is fuel filter, . The pump is only putting out 9 to 12 psi so my money's on a clogged filter.
