Newbie Question
Been taking my time and looking for my first vette purchase. Want a C4 in the 90-95 range. Going to look at one tomorrow that I was hoping to get some advice on. If everything is on the up & up this is a 95 in excellent cosmetic and mechanical shape but has 140k miles on the orig motor for $6500. I know there are a lot of varibles that I can't answer at this time and the price looks like a bargain but am I most likely looking at a project car in the near future with that many miles. I plan to use it as a "semi" daily driver vehicle. I know that anything of that age is likely to need work all along but I don't want my "first" vette to be a nightmare either. Thanks in advance for any words of advice.

RE: Newbie Question
Just like buyin' any car, look underneith for any leakage from engine, tranny, and rear end. ( look at the shocks too, they will have oil seapage if they are bad. )
Inspect the underside to see if it has run over any rocks, burms or other object that would leave deep scratches or dents in the tranny and engine pans. ( or dents in the frame. )
Inspect under the hood for any signs of oil leaks on the engine or fire wall. Look over the cooling system for any signs of leaks. Check conditon of engine oil and smell the trany fluid. If the tranny has any probs, you can sometimes detect it by a "burnt" smell from the fluid. Next, is "how does she drive?". Does she shift smoothe, or does she kinda bump or bang during a shift? How's she steer? Will she hold a straight line when ya let loose of the wheel?
This ought to give ya a good start any way.
