Default the newbie question

Hi, I currently drive a 92 twin turbo stealth and have it up for sale to by my dream car you guessed it corvette. I'm not 100% on whether to buy a used c5 or lease a c6 yet. I like the styling of the c5 and the fact that i can mod it but the c6 is fast out of the box and has a warranty heh.. My couple of questions. whats made the horepower jump up in 02? is the zo6 still the ls1 engine and what makes it more powerful? Are these cars easy to mod to go faster? I'm leaning towards a soft top any drawbacks? Anything else you all would think I should know?

Thanks a lot,

Travis

If you got the $$$$ they are easy to mod to make way faster, my 02 c5 has a supercharger, headers, is lowered and has an upgraded transmission and clutch. Its currently putting out at the crank over 500hp and at the wheels 463hp. No normal c6 could hang with my c5. I think if you go with the soft top its a little heavier so weight is the only drawback, I could be wrong about that though.

Welcome to the site. The '02 Z06 has a LS6 engine in it. As far as I know the block for the LS1 and LS6 are the same (I could be wrong), but he LS6 has better flowing heads and manifold.
