Changing front signal bulbs
Have got a front signal out, and it's doing the old fast'blink. I found some instructions on changing it via a search, but I'm afraid I don't quite understand how to get to the panel they're referring to.
"....Remove the front fascia lower closeout panel.
Release the brake caliper cooling duct from the front fascia, and position the duct aside...."
Is this something underneath the front of the car near the radiator, or in the wheel well where the cooling duct lets out? Do you have to jack the the car up from the front? If so what jacking point (that aluminum cross member)? Do I need to use a piece of wood there ? Can I jack it from the side with pucks and get access to it with the wheel off? Need some clarification here..
Much obliged,
Tim

I justt changed the RF turn signal monday! I read the same thing you did in the service manual but instead I removed the headlamp bezel and just reached in and turned the socket loose and removed old bulb (by crushing it in my hand, cutting my fingers, spilling shards of glass, then using pliers to pull out peices, shorting out the bulb filiments, blowing a fuse, replace fuse) and put in the new one. It was just THAT easy. Now the remote entry doesn't work! I replaced the battery in the hand held but still no go. I will be in the manual again Sunday! Oh and the windsheild wipers don't turn off. So I pulled the fuse and hope it doesn't rain. I will be in the service manual AGAIN Sunday.

The above comment is the way I did it also. Forget about removing that panel, it's a pain in the butt and still hard to reach the socket. Go in thru the air scoop opening on the front and push back and down on the rubber ducting. This gets it out of the way and allows you to squeeze your hand inside and "unlatch" the bulb socket. You have to feel around the socket base and push in on the side plastic lever as you twist (counter-clockwise).....(left---for those of you in West Virginia) and then the socket will come out of the lamp housing.
There is enough slack in the wiring harness to allow you to pull the socket asm. out thru the air duct hole so you can remove and replace the bulb. Then the real fun starts......
Pay attention to the 3 raised areas around the socket base. Two of them are the same and the other is wider. These 3 items have to get aligned with the corresponding slots in the lamp base and that's a lot of fun (may bea six-pack or better) required to get 'er done. Once you get italigned in the hole, then aquarter turn to the right will "lock" it in place.
Now, slide the air duct back into position, finish your last beer and you're done.

i replaced both mine..i cracked heaadlight up amnually removed the plastic shroud around headlight and reached my arm in..it was prett much a PIA but got it..and had arm stuck for a few mins..lol..good luck
Well just a note i did not do it myself my mechanic that works on my other cars did it for no charge just the cost of the new buld ($2) Sounded awesome to me.
He had me turn on the head lights so they would pop up (2004 C5 series) he reached his arm in between the spacing there and removed the old one and wiggled his arm out and put the new one in he was finished in about 3 minutes... I tried to get my arm in there after he was done and still dont see how he did ...lol he's not a little guy either hope that helps...
