Default Ignition/Electrical Problem

I seem to have an issue with my 03. When I turn the key, the dash lights normally, but nothing from the starter. When I remove the key and put it back in and turn it again several times, it will start. The second issue is that the steering wheel extention and the drviver side backward/forward switches are not working. It has a brand new Optima AGM battery. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

It could be one of several things:
Ignition key switch: not uncommon but does happen
Shorted wire in the driver's door jam accordian sleeve: While activating the steering wheel or seat switch, wiggle the wire bundle that is inside the accordian protector near the lower (driver's) door hinge. If the switch starts working, there is likely to be a wire that is exposed and intermittantly shorting.

Did you try clean the lanyard post to see if it was making a good contact?I would start by cleaning the Post on the safety lanyard. It is beeping and saying it isn't connecting to the Mpem, (Multi Purpose Electronic Module) It needs to beep 2 times to let you know it is ready to start. Clean the post and cap with soapy water. Don't use any grease of lubricant on it as it needs a clean connection to make contact. Connect the lanyard to see if it is making a connection....
